Run and Tumble

Sometimes we don’t need the answer, we just need to know that God answers prayer… but in His time.

Out of nowhere, Friday and this morning have given me my first genuinely pain free runs since last year. The road ahead is long but exciting.

I’m withdrawing from the year’s remaining races, my focus on the most important weekend of all, getting married next February, whilst trying to get back into peak shape for Paris, Manchester and London marathons in Spring.

God has continued to elevate and bless me abundantly even in those moments when I’ve felt angry and frustrated at not being able to perform my best.

And the greatest race of all, fulfilling God’s purpose is one that I will run with endurance and with my eyes set on Him.

I’m very blessed that God gave me the gift of running; not because I’ve become quite good at it and not because I was able to lose 40kg…

I’m grateful because it transformed my life, my physical and mental health, my relationships, my work, everything I do.

But running is just an idol, and it takes times like this, of being hurt and really not enjoying it, to remember that running with endurance is not to run the race I wish to but that which God has set before me.
